Tigereyes

Directed, shot, edited, colour graded & produced by Martina Trepczyk

Hamna Hussain finds solace among the one of the most feared and misunderstood animals in the world–Tiger Sharks. As a hijab-wearing dive instructor, she faces similar prejudice and turns stigmas upside down. This moving portrait combines shark conservation and the role of women in an intimate, poetic film.

The short film toured across the globe and was screened at various film festivals for almost two years. Tigereyes was selected as a finalist at the renowned Jackson Wild Media Awards in the category of Breakthrough Film 2023’. Jackson Wild awards are lovingly called ‘The Green Oscars’ and are considered the highest bar of achievement for nature and wildlife filmmakers.

Tigereyes also won six awards ranging from ocean and conservation to diversity and feminist film festivals (2-time Winner: DOC LA. 1-time Winner: Blue Water, Ocean Coast, Berlin Indie Film Fest, Shorts Fringe. 5-times Finalist: Jackson Wild, Ethos Film Fest, International Freedom Festival, New York Independent Film Festival, International Diversity Film Festival)
